The Adobe Camera Raw plugin, and DNG Converter can also be downloaded from the same links, here for PC and here for Mac. This will only allow your RAW file to be able to be edited with the older version of ACR you may have, but which may not have the newest features of a later version of ACR. There is a way of making any camera's RAW files compatible with a version of ACR you may have, and that is to convert your RAW files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG Converter software. Adobe update ACR as new cameras are brought out but will eventually stop new versions of ACR from working with older versions on Photoshop CS* and Elements*. In the latter case, the version of Photoshop CS or Photoshop Elements, and the version of ACR available may not be new enough to include their camera. There are questions every so often about people trying out RAW editing for the first time with Photoshop/Elements, but finding problems when either they haven't installed or updated the Adobe Camera Raw plugin, or when they have, find that their computer still doesn't recognise the RAW file from their camera.
